AUG 4TH DAY  1 

OUR CALL OUT WAS FOR

Non-conventional narratives, creativity, editing, genres, and ways in which we express them. The stories unheard. The stories undefined. Stories which push and pull boundaries. Disregarding the box. Simple and Wild. Tender and Raged. Stories we haven't been allowed to tell. Work which expands the narrative. 

With over 60 applications these 6 selected creatives made it through the initial selections panel, and interview. They will compete with their pieces on Saturday 4th August, to claim the Pandora Award.

 

Winners will take part in Melanin Stages. A Further development opportunity to display an extended showing/progression of their work, alongside a £400 Bursary. WINNERS WILL BE DECIDED BY AUDIENCE VOTE AT THE FESTIVAL.

ALL THE GIRLS...

ATLANTA GREEN

A hilarious short which takes place in the dreaded girls toilets of a busy nightclub. A fly on the wall look at just what happens when a girl sees her EX-boyfriend in the club with his new girlfriend and chooses to confide in the unsuspecting toilet attendant. The short ends with a shock finale as it is revealed the 'EX' in question is no other than the toilet attendants son.

BITCHCRAFT

NKHANISE PHIRI

4 young witches whose lives intertwine not only with each other but with their past and what it means to be a young woman and a witch. Their lives change when a new girl discovers who they really are.

TELL ME MORE LIES

Tee and Vee are an online YouTube couple who appear to be taking the online sphere by storm. Despite only beginning their channel a year ago, they have already smashed records other YouTubers only dream of. They love to love each other and all seems well on the 'Tee and Vee Show'. However, when the cameras are turned off, the audience see a darker side to the couple; two individuals who will do anything to remain in the limelight. Welcome to Black YouTube - a place where anything goes.

AFRAID OF THE DARK

A short play about two guys talking on a dating app, one gay and one bi-curious. It follows their exchanges across the app as they playfully try to suss each other out.

THE THIRD EYE

Demi is a normal teenager and lives a pretty comfortable life with her parents, with nothing but a small rebellious streak to her name. That is until her world is turned upside down, when her mother is arrested. As she watches her family fall apart, she must question everything she knew about her parents’ marriage and her own identity. Is her mother who she really says she is? And how far is Demi willing to go in order to find out the truth? This striking family drama is about betrayal, conspiracies and the pursuit of the truth.
